Fear Not

Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV)

10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God.

I will strengthen you,

Yes, I will help you,

I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

History:

This verse comes from the book of Isaiah. The book of Isaiah is full of God’s righteousness:  both His warnings against those who sin and worship false gods and His hope for those who worship and follow Him as the ONE TRUE GOD.

This verse is a promise from God to His children that He will ultimately save those who turn to Him!

The book of Isaiah was written by Isaiah himself.  The name Isaiah means: “Salvation of the Lord” or “the Lord is salvation.”  Isaiah was chosen by God to be a prophet.  As a prophet, it was his role to be God’s messenger.

God spoke warnings and promises to Isaiah and in turn, Isaiah delivered those messages to the Israelites. God needed the Israelites to realize that their idols could not protect them or save them.  God needed the Israelites to totally depend and trust in HIM.

Just as the Israelites in Biblical times were God’s children, Christians today are also God’s children. Because of this, the warnings and promises given in the book of Isaiah are still very much relevant to us today.  Just like the Israelites, we too will be sometimes fearful of our future.  We will be tempted to place our faith in our own hands or worse yet place our faith into the wrong hands.  God wants us to place our faith and trust in HIM alone.

Are you afraid or worried today?  Are you tempted to place your faith or trust in SOMETHING or SOMEONE other than God to rescue or save you?

If so, this verse from Isaiah is for YOU!

Key Word: Fear an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat.

Connection to Us Today

We do live in a world full of evil, but God does not want us to live a life full of fear.  It is possible to live in this crazy, unstable world and not feel afraid, and God wants us to realize this.  We are God’s children.  He WILL protect us!  There is no danger or threat that can separate us from Him.  Even if our flesh feels threatened, our spirit WILL remain safe and secure in God’s powerful hands, but we must put our faith only in Him!  We may get ourselves into uncertain situations at times and God may allow us to remain in that situation for a season.  As we are looking to be rescued, we must understand that the only person who can ultimately save us from this negative state is GOD alone.  We must fully place our faith in HIM!
