This week we have been studying John 16:33.
John 16:33New King James Version (NKJV)
33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will[a] have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
It is now time for YOU to reflect on what GOD is telling you through this verse.
One way to do this is to write a SOAP reflection:
SOAP: It's quite simple. When you sit for your daily quiet time read the bible as you normally would with one simple difference. Underline or make note of any verses that jump out at you with special significance. This is the basis for diving deeper and using S.O.A.P.
Scripture Write the verse or verses that stuck out to you in your reading. Observation What did you observe about the scripture that struck you. This can be one sentence or a whole book. Application How can you apply the observation so that it affects your life today. Prayer Write out a prayer to God based on what you just learned and ask him to help you apply this truth in your life. S.O.A.P. stands for Scripture, Observation, Application and Prayer. It is a way of getting more out of your time in God's word.
Here is a WONDERFUL poem that may help you with your reflection:
The Bridge ~
There is a bridge you can take, it leads to water’s living . . . it’s there you’ll find peace merciful and forgiving.
Over trials and tribulations, it will take you across the span of His loving hands will lead you to the cross.
It is a bridge of assurance, trouble waters will not last and for you He has a future much better than the past.
The hardships in this life, will take faith to get through and Jesus is the bridge linking His Father right to you!
John 14:6 King James Version
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
