This poem fits perfectly with our Doodles and Devotions lesson for this week. As you read the words pray for God to reveal Himself to you in a new and powerful way.
Here is our scripture for this week along with SOAP instructions:
John 8:12 New King James Version (NKJV)
12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
What is S.O.A.P.? S.O.A.P. stands for Scripture, Observation, Application and Prayer. It is a way of getting more out of your time in God's word. We did not invent it, we just decided to make a website to make it easier to do.
How does it work? It's quite simple. When you sit for your daily quiet time read the bible as you normally would with one simple difference. Underline or make note of any verses that jump out at you with special significance. This is the basis for diving deeper and using S.O.A.P.
Now comes the cool part. Login and create a new SOAP entry. There are four fields to fill in and I bet you can guess what they are:
ScriptureType in the verse or verses that stuck out to you in your reading. You can show the verses and even have them read to you with the click of a button. No copying and pasting blocks of text.
ObservationWhat did you observe about the scripture that struck you. This can be one sentence or a whole book.
ApplicationHow can you apply the observation so that it affects your life today.
PrayerWrite out a prayer to God based on what you just learned and ask him to help you apply this truth in your life.
Thats all there is to it!
The One True Light ~
Sometimes it’s impossible, to keep the lights on inside when there’s so much darkness lurking on the outside.
Sometimes the truth, doesn’t shine so very bright when there’s so much gloom that clouds up the sight.
Sometimes in the shadows, the way seems to disappear when there’s so much dread lurking close and near.
But, the One True Light, is always on ~ inside of us when there’s so much doubt in Jesus we can always trust!
John 1:8-9 King James Version
“He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.”
